Germany takes the EU Presidency today in the middle of a huge crisis: Covid-19.
But there is still another crisis going on, that’s a fact if we are remembering the lost and broken lives in road traffic during the last years. Fact is also that the number of road deaths in the EU have declined by only 7% since 2013.
Together for Road Safety and Road Victims Discovery and Recovery
ACTION is needed NOW - road safety MUST remain a priority; especially in the (green ) deal with the Urban Mobility Package
EU Road Safety: No Applaus from Victims
- FEVR sitting in the European “Road Safety boat” for nearly 30 years now
- • supporting Sustainable and Smart Mobility and advocating for better safety of those outside the cars
- need sustainable, active and safe mobility for all
EU more to Do
For the EU to reach the 2020 target, road deaths now need to be reduced by around 34.5% from 2019 to 2020 – quite impossible. And lets not forget the injured in the strategy and memory.
But road deaths and injuries are not only an issue for the transport, its also about health and justice, its all about the Post-Crash Response
FEVR president:
Jeannot Mersch
I am afraid that we will have a “second wave” of poor reduction of the number of fatalities and serious injuries, unless there will be a much more ambitious plan starting now during Germans presidency of the Council
