message from WHO General Director
message from UN Special RS Envoy
Special Message from Jean Todt, UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety for the 2017 Global Road Safety Week. The theme of the 2017 Global Road Safety Week is #SlowDown to save lives. 1.24 million people die each year on the road placing road traffic injuries among the top ten causes of death worldwide. The higher the speed, the greater the risk of a crash and severity of injury. Always be sure to respect the speed limit. Slow Down to Save Lives.
“Despite that the well chosen slogan is Slow Down to Save Lives we should not forget that reducing the speed, especially in urban areas, will also reduce a lot the injuries, among vulnerable road users ( pedestrians & cyclists) as are above all our children, elderly and people with reduced mobility”
