FEVR also welcomes the formal political agreement reached this afternoon about the so-called “cross boarder enforcement directive”, whereby foreign drivers who commit eight defined traffic offences can no longer escape prosecution.
FEVR president, Jeannot Mersch:
“European citizens already had to wait so long before this agreement was found.
In my country, Luxemburg, where during the summer, due to transit and holiday travel, there are many offences committed by non resident drivers, the Parliament only voted this law yesterday.
Think that a bit of “political woman power” was useful as the rapporteurs, as well in Luxemburg as in the EU Parliament were both ladies?”
The political agreement reached today still needs to be formally approved by the European Parliament and by Member States.
